December 7th – Civil Aviation Day

December 7th, 2012 by Tatiana

On December 7th Civil Aviation Day is celebrated to raise awareness of the importance of international civil aviation and of the role that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) plays in insuring the safety of airlines around the globe.

They have done incredibly well. Did you know that “the risk of being killed in a plane crash in any particular year is one in 125 million passenger journeys. That’s three times safer than travelling by train — when did you last worry about that? — and 12 times safer than travelling by car. In fact, you’re more likely to have a fatal accident during six hours at work than you are during six hours on a plane.” (from Daily Mail)

Let’s celebrate together by travelling and by keeping a record of our flights on www.jetitup.com created by my partner.

Ever wanted to see how long you have spent cruising the skies? Jet it up lets you enter your flight history and see interesting stats and facts about where you’ve been, how long it took and how far you have gone! Do you know how many times you have flown around the globe? Any idea how many miles you have flown to the moon? JetItUp will tell you all.

You can login with Facebook, Twitter, TripIt, Windows Live or LinkedIn accounts to access JetItUp –  create a personal account and start adding flights straightaway. Statistics are generated dynamically as you add your flights. If you have flights in a TripIt account then they can be imported into your JIU account!

All your statistics are viewed on a single page, and using the date slider, can span any month range you choose. See how far you went this year, last year, or in the last 6 or 12 months, or even years, quickly and easily.
